Prop firms and funded accounts, without the marketing
A funded account is not a broker account. Understanding the difference saves the fee.
What you are actually buying
You pay for an evaluation against rules: a profit target, a daily loss limit and a maximum drawdown. Pass it and you trade the firm's capital for a share of the profit. The fee buys the attempt, not the capital.
Where the money goes
Most attempts fail on the daily loss limit rather than the target, which is why evaluation fees are a business in their own right. Read the rule on news trading and on holding over the weekend before paying — those two clauses end more attempts than bad trading does.
Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of losing more than you deposit. Most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
